Beginner (Persian 1 & 2)

This course provides students with opportunities to acquiring, listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Persian with the five goals of National Standards for Foreign Language. Students will expand their knowledge of the Persian language and culture. Students function at a novice level of proficiency. Students will develop their ability to:
• Engage in simple conversations using learned material
• Introduce and describe themselves and their families
• Comprehend information from familiar material
• Talk about their needs and wants, likes and dislikes
• Give or ask for directions and plan a vacation
• Make a presentation about a Persian artifact

Intermediate (Persian 3 & 4)

In this course students will expand their abilities to perform tasks of the intermediate language learner in everyday topics. As such, students will:
• Participate in simple face-to-face communication
• Create statements and questions to communicate independently when speaking and writing
• Understand main idea and some details of material on familiar topics when speaking and reading
• meet limited practical and social writing needs
• use knowledge of the components of language, including grammar, to increase accuracy of expression

Advance (Persian 5 & 6)

Advanced Persian is the natural follow up to the Beginner and Intermediate Persian Courses currently offered by ISSD. This Course is designed to improve students’ reading, writing, listening, speaking and cultural skills. The course covers a variety of subject matters in: Iranian history, arts, geography, literature, and culture. It prepares students to communicate, verbally and in writing in Persian. It covers both Formal and Informal registers of the Persian language. It also covers the Persian terminology required for advance comprehension and communication.

Extra Curricular Activities

These classes are offered at Branch I which includes dance, music and acting.
